One Evening Only (3-hours duration)
This course is for pet owners who want to learn how to maintain their pet at home between professional grooming sessions. You will be able to bring along your own pet, and learn how to clean ears, clean eyes, clean teeth, brush out the coat, and trim the nails. You will also learn how to bath and dry correctly.
The times and dates vary and may be negotiated with the Salon Proprietor.

2 Day course (Basic Practical)
This course is a practical hands-on programme. You will be required to complete a basic programme of practical grooming at the Hair ‘n’ Houndz salon, Scissett, in Huddersfield. Sessions typically start with; brushing out, bathing, drying, basic clipping lines, nails, ears, eyes, teeth, anal glands, etc. on a wide variety of breed types. Only very basic scissoring is covered in this programme. Typically you will be working on at least 3 different breeds per day.
This programme is ideal for anyone wanting to perform regular maintenance on their own pets.
On completion of the course you will receive; “The Hair ‘n’ Houndz Certificate in Basic Grooming Techniques. You will also take with you a wealth of valuable practical experience and your very own pair of finishing scissors.

5 Day Course (Introductory Practical)
This course, although practical in nature, covers a similar range of hands-on topics as the ten day course described above but does not go into the same depth. It is an ideal taster course for anyone considering looking at dog grooming as a possible career option or change.
At the end of the course you will receive “The Hair n Houndz Certificate of Achievement” and a wealth of valuable practical grooming experience. You will also receive your own pair of finishing scissors.

10 Day Course (Intermediate Practical)
This course is a practical hands-on course. You will be required to complete an intensive programme of practical grooming at the Hair ‘n’ Houndz salon, Scissett, in Huddersfield. In your first few sessions, you will cover all the basics; brushing out, bathing, drying, clipping, nails, ears, eyes, teeth, anal glands, etc. on a wide variety of breeds. Soon afterwards we try to progress you towards, scissoring, shaping and finishing, again on a wide variety of breeds. Typically you will be working on at least 3 different breeds per day.
This programme is ideal for anyone considering looking at dog grooming as a possible career option or change. Sufficient skill is acquired during the ten training days to start your own business.
On completion of the course you will receive; “The Hair ‘n’ Houndz Diploma in Grooming and Canine Beauticianship”.You will also take with you a wealth of valuable practical experience and your very own pair of finishing scissors.
